Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Yaye, and I am from the Wolof tribe of Senegal, West Africa. As an avid creator, I’ve always had a knack for pursuing anything that asks me to manifest my imagination into my physical reality. Since childhood, fashion has always allowed me to do this. Because of my many experiences in the fashion industry, I’ve been inspired to start my own brand in the near future.
Can you describe the mission story of your brand project?
My project Transcendent is one of revival and redemption. We were tasked with creating looks inspired by the Roaring 20s, a time where festivities and celebrations were a common aspect of lifestyles for the higher economic class. Those who were not part of the higher classes weren't always able to partake in that kind of life. I want to use Transcendent as a way to give those people a second chance to live that life of "glamor" through my clothing.

“Paradox” is the first project of my brand, Zenithesque.
It is inspired by an otherworldly dream I had during the midst
of the 2020 global pandemic, which was one of the
most difficult times in my life.
Through this dream, I was able to travel to a world
of vibrancy, joyous expression, and freedom.
“Tall, ethereal women stand together in a field sprung with vibrant flowers. Gentle winds drift across the vast space and through their long, coarse hairs. The bright sun glows down on their hues of brown skin. In an instant, they begin dancing in unison to the distant beat of drums. They twist, leap and stomp, their glinting jewelry and dresses wrapping, flowing, and flaring across their bodies. They smile radiantly and tilt their heads towards the sun, melodic laughs spilling from their lips as their golden eyes never leave the heavens.”
Two years later, I have yet to forget that world.
