Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I was born here, but my parents are immigrants from Bangladesh. I am 17 and I’m a rising senior. I go to Beacon High School located in 42nd Street near Hell's Kitchen. I have 3 sisters and a brother, therefore I have a large family.
I am thinking of getting into the business industry—particularly in fashion—so this program is a great opportunity for me to learn about the fashion industry and more about myself. It also provides me more opportunities to build connections.
Can you describe the mission story of your brand project?
My mission is to provide a more environmentally friendly brand as well as more inclusivity. I want several people to relate to the brand I am forming by making genderless clothes.
However, being a woman myself, I also want to make it more woman-empowering because there aren't many women in business. Many of the owners of largely known brands are males. I also want to make my brand more minority-based since I am a woman of color, and I would do that by learning about and incorporating and fusing different cultures into different styles.
